Project Description

The Byron Bay Library has a 5 green star rating as defined by the Green Building Council of Australia. The landscape design was undertaken by Design Team Ink and includes ‘greenwalls’, plants of local genetic provenance, local sandstone, onsite storage of rainwater for irrigation and composite fibre battening for external window shades / screens. The Architects, Stephenson and Turner have created a lovely visual connection from the internal reading rooms to the adjoining Coast Cypress forest. The design process has included some important collaborations between the community, Council, state government agencies and Arakwal.
